What to bring to events
If an event is listed as a casual meetup or hangout, you never need to bring anything. Though it may always be beneficial to bring a small notebook and writing implement if we're discussing resources or druidic practices, etc. It's always optional, but these are the suggestions:
- Notebook
- Pen
If an event is listed as a ritual, all attendees are invited to either observe or participate to the extent they feel comfortable. If you'd like to participate, then at least consider bringing a ceremonial cup of some sort. Regardless of the style, we usually refer to ceremonial cups simply as "chalices." They can be a travel mug, a ceramic or metal goblet, cast resin, wood, or glass. Since we're outside and often have uneven surfaces, ceramic and glass can be fragile of course, but you might see a number of us with glass cups. In fact, there's an unofficial tradition in Reformed Druidism that we tend to use short "Georgian pattern" glass tumblers. Mosser Glass still makes them new, but you can find them relatively easily in any big antique store. Attendees will also bring a plant-based offering for the fire or sometimes some poetry to offer. If you have a ritual robe you like to wear, or other ceremonial garments that you use in your personal practice, that is also welcome. Many attendees just wear everyday clothing to rituals. Again it's all optional, but here are the suggestions:
- Chalice
- Plant-based offering for the fire
- Maybe poetry or a meditation
- Ceremonial attire (but please wear something)
